Bush Sunflower

Hello, I'm Bryan and I'm in 10th grade at Los Altos High School. In my zine I learned about the Bush Sunflower (Encelia Californica). When the Bush sunflower reaches its 5th stage it begins to bloom. For pollination the bush sunflower primarily consists of insect activity which are bees and butterflies. This plant is commonly found in dry, open areas in southern United States and Northern Mexico. The plant obviously begins as a seed, then it begins germination, seeding, maturity, and then seed production then a follow up of death. The bush sunflower can sustain a dry, arid climate. It thrives in sunny conditions. The bush sunflower turns its flowers to face the sun to attract pollinators and it's a fast bloomer. With the right conditions the bush sunflower's bloom can last almost for a year. After a wild fire, it's one of the first quick returning species to stabilize soil and prevent erosion.
