Coastal Brush Lupine

My name is Francisco and I’m in 12th grade at Los Altos High School. My zine went over the growth and maintenance of the Coastal Bush Lupine. The Coastal Bush Lupine is also known as the Lupinus Arboreus. It is recognizable as a large bush with purple or yellow flowers sprouting from its stems. Their seeds typically sprout between a month or two after being planted, and they are normally planted during flowering season, or late spring. It grows for roughly a year, which is when it should be given consistent water weekly. However, they live for up to seven years total and should be given infrequent water, but heavy watering. Its primary pollinators are bumble bees and butterflies. These pollinators are attracted to its abundance of nectar and pollen, as well as its fragrance. It utilizes thick leaves, and a deep root structure to retain water during drought. The plant will likely reproduce after its second spring after being pollinated. The seeds that the plant produces are about a fifth of an inch.
